I must say I agree with you, surprisingly for myself.
Chillax was certainly extremely fun before, but somewhere near map33 I started to think if these maps were actually generated by some specially crafted generator. It's too much "like itself".

Or just cut/pasted together by other pieces of a map used before. But yeah. I don't like it anymore. Though, some of the later maps are interesting actually... I'll write a list of those that are interesting in just a bit, just need to recall which ones are which.

I vote for Hellbound as well.

What's Whitemare 2 like? Should I check out Whitemare 1 before 2?

Whitemares are output of Russian Doom Community. Collections of maps that make extensive use of textures from Blood episode 2. You can play any map from both in any order, so playing Whitemare is not required to enjoy Whitemare 2.

I played both, both are sorta good but I didn't find them awesome.

Hellbound, I tried real hard to enjoy it but no, too little direction for me.

DBThanatos you know what wad is cool right, there's this new revolutionary cool wad called Hell Revealed 2!!! Just kidding.

"Survive in Hell" is poor man's HR2, but playing a novice copycat wad probably doesn't sit right with your playthrough. I enjoyed it though.

I vote for Hellbound. I think Hell Revealed would be a good second choice. Don't know which one of them, though.

Also I just noticed that 1 year passed since I made that list of suggestions of wads for DBT. How time flies. Neutral

I've made up my mind and vote for Sunlust, which is the next wad I'm gonna play myself anyway.

Sunlust is one of those ultra hard megawads made by Ribbiks and Dannebubinga. I don't think DBT will last long in this megawad unless he spams the save/load buttons and makes a different save per each level. Going Down may have been chaotic but I tell you, the wads made by those duo are pretty much insane in terms of difficulty. I haven't played the wad yet but I can tell it's going to be a painful experience.

Ugh, sunlust. That stuff's awful.

At least do Hellbound first with joke mode 'cause I wanna see him fight the clowns.

Yes, although my answer was mostly directed towards DBT because I don't think he will last long on UV difficulty on Sunlust. I can play many wads on UV difficulty and still beat them, sometimes there are maps that can frustrate me but after saving/loading a lot, I can still beat them. I haven't played most of the wads that came in last few years because I like to play chronologically, so I haven't experienced all these new slaughterfests.

I wonder why DBT didn't do Going Down in joke mode in the first place. It would have been a lot better if he fought clowns in Going Down. But yeah it's never too late and I'm looking forward to Hellbound. Though I wouldn't mind seeing him play one of the Community Chest wads or something older.

One of the wads I have been playing recently and still playing is "Bloodstain" (bstain.wad) that you can check out.

To be fair, he fought and beat the death bringer (with my guidance) so that made up for it. Razz

I heard of that wad and it seems like a good suggestion for DBT's next playthrough. Maybe I should update my list of suggestions for last year and add some more.

True. But the joke mode would have fit nicely in Going Down. Razz

Fuck Yeah, Bloodstain! That wad with a couple Cradle of Filth midis! Totally forgot about it.
Disregard my last post, I vote for this one instead. Even if DBT won't use the wads music and will use aeodmus instead.

By the way, I've been trying to find Bloodstained. I only found a version with one level in it. Someone give me the real thing...

The interim hell maps sucked but the last ones were awesome. Though there could've been more to map30 but I'm not complaining. Also, I kinda like how that ended on a darker note -- you still wind up dying regardless even after stopping the invasion.

Also, you know why I vouch for joke mode so much?

Aside a couple monsters that I really want DBT to face up against next, he can have his sweet sweet revenge if he gets the soul reaper. Because guess what? The soul reaper reaps souls (sometimes double!) from everything it kills via the alt-fire.

Naturally, weak enemies are some of the biggest targets with this thing. And guess what else? Those black bears are pansies. A fourth or a fifth of a second with the soul reaper beam and they're easy food to fuel the fire.

Do you know how many times I transform per run-through into a demon when just using the soul reaper blade alone?

...I lose count. Every damn time.
