It might be a patch, but it's more than bug fixes

This is the patch that everyone thought that wouldn't happen, but here it is.

WARNING

Because we had to move from numbered scripts to named scripts, if you had a previous version of AEoD set up, you'll have to set up the keybindings again. This only affects AEoD's in particular, such as the weapon dropping and slot limits.

What changed?

Themes rewritten: You can now select the monsters per game that you want to spawn. Want only doom monsters? No problem. Quake 2 + Hexen? There you go. You choose!

Zombies everywhere: You can now enable directors in any and all modes/themes you select. So, if you want, you can have your lovely bunch of zombies spawning everywhere.

Directors are directing your game: If you're not into zombies, you can select another director to spawn monsters according to the theme(s) and monster selection(s) you're playing.

One new weapon: It might be only one, but if you get it, you can be sure it'll be quite useful for the rest of the game.

One new joke mode enemy: Well, that'll take time to be found.

Brand new power up: Might want to check the video below.

Spellbooks all around: You never found spells before? well, that has changed now. And their effects have been amplified too.

Finally, after three years in the making, it's done. Whew!

You might be wondering, why did it take us so long to make a simple patch? Well... It's not a simple patch. It's a massive rebalance is what it is.

First off we took a break for a while, attended to life, and doing other things. Y'know, 'cause 6.x was just massive to begin with. I don't think we've ever put this much work into it before. But this time, thanks to ZDoom's sped-up development process, many more things have cropped up and drawn our attention back to it with lots of new features.

It's safe to say: We're back.

It was about time a new patch was released. Wish I could have played now, but real life is always a priority. Still I'm happy to see AEOD well and alive! Very Happy

6.06.2 is released. Just a couple bug fixes such as the new weapon not spawning in classic mode AGAIN. Fixed for real this time. And several other critical bugs addressed.

An update, 6.07, is in the works and expected to be released Very Real Pretty Soon. Sooner than our usual Soon™.  Smile

The update contains quite a lot of bugfixes, and, most importantly, update 6.07 works with current GZDoom (2.4+).

If you find this post before the 6.07 rolls out, please play 6.06.2 with GZDoom 2.2.0. Unfortunately, big changes that GZDoom underwent during the past year outruled some of the practices we have been forced to use, pointing us at some overlooked errors that never appeared. Well, back in the day there were no better options! Now it's time to right the old wrongs.
