PostSubject: Bugs and Suggestions   Sun Sep 06, 2009 10:49 am

I just made this to report anything abnormal I encounter when playing AEoD. As well as some suggestions that may enhance the playing experience.

Bugs:

- Sometimes, I will come across an enemy Ripper (projectile variant), I'm unable to shoot it. Bullets and other ammo go right through it and hit the wall or floor.

- Not sure if this is a bug or just how the game works but; if i have multiples of an inventory item (e.g. 14 medicine bottles), they don't carry over when I complete the level.

We'll look into that first one, but the second is perfectly normal behavior for the game (based on Heretic's inventory).

I feel better knowing that i didnt lose all my inventory items due to a bug. cheers

Suggestion: This is a tall order but, i think it would be cool to see all the monsters on completion of a game instead of the core demons from doom.

Possibly an option to keep inventory on completion of a level ( toggle on off)

all i can think of at the moment.

May I ask you what you mean? because as far I know are all orginal Doom monsters inside AEoD sinces several versions.

what i meant was; when you beat a wad/game, it goes through all the monsters and you kill them by hitting any key(i think)

the Icon of Sin wall thing. Yeah I know what you mean now. But I have no idea if that can be done without destoring PWAD support.

I have a list lol!

Suggestions:

- Just like in Psychophobia, the game should bring a map where you can spawn any monster you want to fight singularly. Laughing

- More boss drops. Thoth makes me sweat to kill and... Just some mana and dark mana? Mad

- Gargantua. He is spawning TOO MUCH!!! I fought him likely 20 times in Hell Vendetta. Shocked

- I don't think it's possible, but should have more bosses in DBT's style, super-badass, human form, human speech, and lots of creative attacks.

Bugs:

- Monsters are attacking invisible spots. Also, my homing projectiles and lightnings are doing the same thing. OH SH-- Shocked

- I can pull out monsters from it's frozen places. I mean, when the DBT is going to use a spell, I'm able to make it go away from the big picture over him using the Ripsaw. The same happens in the Hellsmith's Pentagram Shield.

- Random crashes. I was playing on 4000 Monsters WAD, and crashes suddenly, even without any slowdown.

- Bastets are appearing from it's invisible state right over me, making me get stuck and killed by it.

That is it.

Just as with anything else, part of the AEoD intention consist in leaving surprises for the player. I dont quite like the idea for the monster map.

About thoth, you are right, however, is not like we can give each boss a unique weapon to drop Wink

Gargantua: that's pobably just luck. Everything is random, so, while there are certain cyberdemon more rare than others, there is not a single one that spawns more because we set it up that way. Is all luck.

About DBT style bosses, dont know, not enough resources.

Random crashes: Im sorry but that's something out of our control. Unless you find what caused the crash, is very unlikely for us to find out what could have been.

Bastets: Yeah, I might need to remove their "A_ChangeFlag("Solid",0)" because of this issue. Is rare, but I knows it happens.

Found a bug where the monsters kept attacking a spot like mentioned earlier. I think it was on the spot where the boss azanigin died. The big boss that spawns loads of monsters and drops the monsterspawner weapon when it dies.

Yeah, it's because of the spawning method. Azanigin uses the old one for some compat reasons, however, at that time, i forgot to remove the looping sequence on the spawner, which makes it stay there and be a target for friendly monsters.

Sometimes when the beholder from might and magic dies, its animation stops in the "hurt" animation. You can pass through it as if it was a corpse though, projectiles and monsters doesnt target it either.

Why havent you implemented a caleb boss when you have duke nukem, doom clones and that leonard guy?

Found a small typo where it said something along the lines of "was killed by and ogre" instead of an ogre.

Found two more bugs.

One on the green goblin monsterthingy alien that has the same sound as those small goblins from diablo2. (think its a replacement for a zombieman) When that monster dies theres a small black spot up on the left over its corpse.

Sometimes when I use the lightningspells alt fire (that bounces around) it stops on a monsters corpse when it kills it and stays there permanently until someone walks on it and takes the damage. (Such as myself)

Admittedly, the Bastet monsters have been giving me some trouble too. I really don't know when or why it happens, but I'd occasionally be attacked by a completely invisible and invincible Bastet that can attack me very easily, but I can't hit it. No monster or projectile I summon kills it either. I just have to run away.

Not sure what version of AeoD I have though, to be honest. AeoD is the greatest thing since sliced tea for me, and I am extraordinarily grateful to the fine individuals who put it together. Smile




Dumb Suggestion: Joke Weapons. A Poking stick. Does barely any damage. A Rubber duck, maybe. A rock. Nothing serious. Razz Getting stuff off my mind.

I've noticed the Bastet bug as well... It's annoying to the point where I just bound a key to "kill bastet; kill bastetmaster" because I hate it so much.

Hmm... Bastet mosters are certainly annoying, but I haven't stumbled upon that bug yet.

If I may make a suggestion... I think Armored Shotgun Sergeants (the red Strife guys) should spawn as Barons of Hell or Arch-Viles. They're way too powerful for a HK class monster (I made that change messing with the Spawners.aed file myself, but it should be implemented in the next version)

Well, i was playing AEoD yesterday, and I was thinking that there were too few Super Shotgun replacements, so I have a suggestion for a future addition to this modīs great arsenal: The Ethereal Crossbow from Heretic. Primary fire should be the crossbow's standard fire mode, and scondary should be the Tome of Power-buffed shot.

Yay, my wish came true. Magic Crossbow rules. Too bad AWP rules even more, just got it today on Alien Vendetta and I took Eidolon out in 3 or 4 hits with it with the fire symbol active Laughing

Btw, I saw a possible bug, there's a weapon in the decorates called Rubin Wand that doesn't appear among the spawners and isn't dropped by anyone.

Dunno if it's intentional, but anyways I put it as a shotgun replacement. It's more powerful than it looks xD

The rubin wand is a default starting weapon for one of the classes. That and the others you start with (rifle, beretta, etc.) aren't supposed to be dropped by anyone.
