Well, since I don't think I'm the only one who play AEoD with his own music, I've opened this little thread for all music suggestions any fellow AEoD players may want to make for a more enjoyable demon-slaughtering-gut-ripping-entrails-blasting experience. Or just because it's a song they like.

So I'll start here with a song that was actually used in MIDI format in Doom II's original soundtrack:

Alice In Chains - Them Bones, from their album Dirt

Not really a grunge fan, but these guys have a strong metal influence, so that's right in my book.

Well, when playing doom, I mostly use the music randomizer I made, to have it playing a nice personal selection of MIDIs.

It goes from metallica to necrophagist. I think is mostly tech death metal and progressive.

however, an album I like to hear also when playing doom, is "Vulgar display of power" by Pantera Very Happy

Yup, Pantera were a nice band allright. Cowboys From Hell is my favourite, but to each his own. Also, you ought to check Anselmo's current band, Down, if you haven't already. Sounds like Pantera with a bit of Sabbath and Southern Rock.

Down - Ghosts Along the Mississipi, from the album II: A Bustle In Your Hedgerow

Also, knowing all the death metal references in AEoD, I'd be surprised if you didn't know Demilich. Their (unfortunately) only album Nespithe sounds great for AEoD

Demilich - The Putrefying Road In The Nineteenth Extremity (Somewhere Inside The Bowels of Endlessness...)

Yeah, the song title is THAT long.

And also, yeah, im sort of a rock/metal conoisseur xD

@Mr.Kosta: Indeed. The Great Southern Trendkill is a perfect disc to use while playing quake2 Razz I dont know why, but I always do.

And to be honest, I did know about Phil's current band. I gotta check that Very Happy

About Demilich, yeah, I have listened to em before. Sounds good (despite the low volume of the record), but I have never tried to play aeod with it. Gotta try. However, the overgrowling vocals I would've left out. Still, they have some pretty sticky riffs >Very Happy

And if you want long song names, we could go with
Nile - Papyrus Containing The Spell To Preserve Its Possessor Against Attacks From He Who Is In The Water

I do like nile a lot, but I hate the equalization. They have some sick riffs, but they hide in all that extreme-gain distortion.

@Madnessguy10: Yeah, the duke theme is really catchy, perhaps because we all know it so well. However, I only see it for duke, and cant play doom with it Razz

I have it playing as the ending of my HTC2 Clown Dis map, because it feels like a victory rush song to me.

And when you're running around with the heavy rocket launcher, you can't help but think of duke nukem anyway... as it's sprites were based off of his rocket launcher.

Well to list a variety of diffrent metal/rock songs I could see myself listening to when playing doom, (seems to be the general theme here.) They really are diffrent types of metal though.

Isis - Hall of the dead
Ulver - I troldskogen faren vild
Meshuggah - Rational Gaze
Arcturus - Hibernation sickness complete
Dream theater - Honor thy father
Devin townsend - By your command
My dying bride - Cry of mankind
Agalloch - Not unlike the waves
Cynic - Space for this
Mars volta - Inertatic Esp.
Alice in chains - Man in the box
Rage against the machine - Killing in the name
Katatonia - My twin
Moonsorrow - Pakanajuhla
Blind guardian - Mirror Mirror
Queensryche - Silent lucidity (For the easier maps)
Pantera - Cemetary gates
Dream evil - Chosen ones
Steve vai - Bad horsie
Enter shikari - Sorry your not a winner
Converge - Reap what you sow
Dillinger escape plan - When good dogs do bad things
Psychostick - Two ton paperweight (This is humor if anything)
Black label society - Stillborn
Angra - Heroes of the sand
Evergrey - Touch of blessing
In the woods... - Weeping willows
Oomph! - Tief in dir
Opeth - Ghost of perdition
Tool - Vicarious
Dark tranquillity - The treason wall
Rhapsody - Emerald sword (Best powermetal song there ever was.)

Guess i have to limit myself there heh.

Well, they can be any style you like. It's just that rock/metal is my preference, so that's what I post, personally.

This one also sounds great for long and difficults, Alien Vendetta style.

Lair of The Minotaur - Doomtrooper, from the album War Metal Battle Master

Well, so I was yesterday playing TNT:Evilution map 32 (Caribbean), when suddenly this popped into my head:

Alcatrazz - Island In The Sun, from the album No Parole From Rock 'n' Roll

Ah, the good ol' 80's...

Well, so I was playing my daily hour of AEoD, and suddenly my WMP popped this one in:

Mekong Delta are one of the most underrated bands of the 80's, if you ask me.

Well, 2 days ago, I had a very unpleasant encounter with... err... one of the new bosses added in the new patch, and after 20 minutes and several quickloads, I managed to beat him and I got my reward: the Volcano Cannon.

Why do I post this story in a music thread? Well, because my WMP playlist must have some telepathic connection with me, and started playing this one once I started unleashing hell with my new and shiny toy:

The win of the situatuion is even more epic if you take a look at the lyrics xD

Cry Little Sister - Without the lyrics, it's rather suspenseful.

... good god there are so many variations of this song...

Just feel like theres not someone representing the electronic part of music. So im gonna post some good electronic songs of diffrent genres. I think each song cowers atleast a diffrent part of each genre. Prolly to much house since I tend to lean towards that genre these latest months.

Vangelis - Chariots of Fire Play it only when you have beaten a hard wad hehe.
Way Out West - Bodymotion
London Elektricity - Remember The Future (High Contrast Mix)
Hybrid - Finished Symphony
Deadmau5 - Strobe (Club Edit)
Venetian Snares - Hajnal Pretty intense breakcore when it starts to kick off.
Firebrand Boy - Spring Republic (Sabrepulse Remix) Sabrepulse is famous for his 8-bit music.
The Prodigy - 'Breathe' If you dont know prodigy and is over 20 years old youve missed a cornerstone from the 90s.
"Clubbed to death" Rob Dougan
Fatboy Slim - Right here, Right now
Jaytech - Pyramid (Dinka Mix)
Hot Butter - Popcorn It deserves to be mentioned.
Renard feat. Furries in a Blender - New Waves Renard queenston with his alt names create more songs in a month than most artists do in year.
Daft Punk - Harder Better Faster Stronger
Where's your head at- Basement Jaxx See it if only for the music movie is bizarre and amusing.

Electronic music is not my cup of tea, but Vangelis and The Prodigy have done some nice stuff.

I love Bolt Thrower. Old school Death Metal + Warhammer 40K themes + AEoD = Twisted Evil

Oh, yeah. Bolt thrower does fit pretty good. By the time I heard that name (the band) I thought would be some sort of speed metal. I was surprised by the fact it was not, and how well this sounded Very Happy

Well, I was watching DBT's talkthrough of Doom II's map 11, and I though that it would be nice to show all of you the greatness of Cynic. I have a very big CD collection, and Cynic's 1st album, Focus, stands as one of my all-tine favourites. No one, and I mean NO ONE sounds like them.

The song used in the talkthrough, How Could I?, was nowhere to be found on youtube, unfortunately. Just live versions with bad sound quality =/

Indeed, Cynic is quite unique.

I hate myself because I lost the opportunity I had to see them live.

I just hope they will release a new record at some point.

Well, I don't play this one with AEoD as much as I do when playing Dawn of War with the Eldar (in the tabletop game, I borrow an army of Tyranids from a friend of mine), but I think you should give it a listen.

The Power Cosmic rules. Although I prefer their first album.
