I haven't noticed a thread to post stories about stuph...yeah
Well, this thread is to share those "omfg I killed a cybie with teh 9mm" moments that we have while playing. If you are able to post a video or images, that'd be amazing too

Obviously I'll start

There was this time while wanting to know how powerful the chainsaw really was I decided to go against a cyberdemon class monster. The Overlord from Duke Nukem, it took a few tries and actually the only reason I didn't get to kill him were annoying doors opening and letting nuissances get a shot on my back. But yeah it was a very affraid moment

Yeah I finished old doom2 with the chainsaw only (except map 30 ofc), its damn good. The hardest map was 8 when there was a big flying hoover guarding the elevator. To be fair it wasnt as hard as I expected when I started.

Well, these one isn't a story of crazy skills, but rather one of extremely bad luck:

If you score a Triple 1 in front of a Buer (Doom 64 Cyberdemon), a Heresiarch, and Lo Wang (the Cyberdemon classs one), you are screwed. Very screwed.

I was playing regular doom (testing the new difficulties that will come in the next patch), specifically e2m8. Guess what spawned? Well, is kind of hard to guess indeed, but I got baphomet.

Now, that's a boss, and adding the fact that overall, the whole episode I got some weak weapons, well... that was certainly hard. After all this time, I finally have been forced to use my powerups. Funny, we added them for a reason, but I practically never use 'em. That tells something about the easyness even in the "hard" skills.

Sometimes even power ups won't cut it. Ice Shield+Fire Symbol+Time Rune+Pentagram+Force Cube+Dual fxcking Raptors+Nova Staff didn't get me through map 20 of Speed Of Doom
Maybe if I add a Thunderstorm...

Anyways, in that same last section of the map (in a lower difficulty) I managed to kill everything except a few baron and archvile class monsters
Unfortunatly one of those was the Visionary and it went completely invulnerable for some reason and kept hitting me. I was prettty pissed off Razz

Heh yeah first time i met him was at temple of gaia in scythe2 I think. I didnt have a pentagram and was low on ammo.

The most fucked over Ive been was at the screenshot from av. When started idcleving to map 15 and then with no weps and ammo played on and later on at that map (18 or so) in the screenshot a lichking spawned and kicked my ass like it had never been kicked before. Especially since I had already used my pentagrams and many other good items on the cyberdemons before and had little ammo and few good weps.

Another time dbt spawned in uac v5 and unlike the last patch im still not sure how to kill him. Luckily hes slow and the map was relatively short and little left of it. The steel balls are annoying though.

While doing a Doom 2 (Hell on Earth) playthrough, in Grosse (MAP32), I just cleared the room and found all the secrets there are to find, so the next thing was to face the unevitable Cyberdemon-class boss that awaited to greet me in german. So I took the best weapon I had (the SBC Cannon), buffed myself with whatever items I had (including a Fire Symbol), ran suicidally straight to the door screaming "Leeroy Jenkins" (in my imagination, of course. I'm not ready to be taken to a mental institution) with the cannon fully charged and then I killed the boss in just one shot.

How anticlimatic

Heh yeah, its both good and bad that aeod is so random. You could ofc write notarget in the console and then summon cyberdemon. Move back a bit and then write notarget again. If you wanted to fight something else.

Yeah, I know that happens. That's the main reason why I limited the amount of inventory items (i.e. pentagram, fire symbol, etc) can be carried between levels. Also, that's why some of the items while being used obscure the sight, because the more you use, the less you'll see. That's the principle of the invulnerability sphere in doom, where the black a white pallete distorts the sight as some sort of punishment (not enough IMO).

Not "punishment" per say. Inverted actually helps me see better in some cases.

I would call it a "cost".
