Sometimes I wonder, if in the face of abundant levels of mana and bullets, we have enough non-low-end weapons that utilize shells. It seems like it's just the Railguns that do, and that's it. (I'm not even sure that it makes sense, since railguns use slugs or radioactive substances.)

So maybe a high end shotgun would do sufficiently. The upsides to it is that it takes up a slot that could be used for anything else, and you get a really, really neat shotgun. This one, for example, is a beast of a shotgun. Very fast SSG action, and its altfire fires shells as fast as a minigun. Think about that. It's got a recoil to it, and you can barely control it at all while using the alt-fire, so it'd be worth being a level 8 or 9 shotgun.

Also, what are peoples' thoughts on the Mortal Launcher?

Have you tried using the vulcan cannon alt-fire? (although personally I feel it's a touch too weak)

That's your SSMinigun right there.

Edit: I should also mention that the alt-fire is far more controllable than the primary which uses bullets, although the spread is kinda wide.

Well, Cooke already said it. The alt-fire of the Vulcan is basically a fully automatic double barrelled shotgun. So there.

Also, the reason to have railguns using shells, is because of ammo balance. There arent many weapons that use shells, vs what uses any sort of mana, or even bullets. So, we needed some mid-power weapon that made that ammo type more useful.

And, there's also the combat shotgun alt fire is really something else. Hence it's rarity.

I avoid to use the vulcan cannon. To much spread and a wind up time. No thanks. Sure close up its good but close up I dont have time to wind up and often have good other choices to use instead.

You think it has a long wind up time? Try the raptor alt-fire.

Yeah, but its main is slightly better at range, which means you get that extra time to set up.

True. And indeed that's where I feel it could be made up for, having it strengthened via damage.

Well, I find the Vulcan pretty useful as it is. True it has some start up and cooldown times, but it can kill anything that isn't a boss in seconds (and in even less time if that anything has vulnerability to bullets).

Of course, a single shot won't be that powerful. That's why you will be firing dozens of them every second.

Indeed. Nothing more invigorating than taking the primary of the shellshocker and dousing it in metallic gunroids now, is there?
