Hey guys. I'm really loving AEoD, enough so that I got the roommate hooked on it too. Now we're looking to play some co-op, but we're having an Issue that I was wondering about.

Using the latest SVN of Gzdoom, here. Whichever one of us is the host or server PC will have a completely black screen with music playing and the HUD laid over it, and still be able to move around and shoot and such. The other player will be able to play normally, and see the host PC stumbling around blindly shooting walls like a moron.

This is a neat sort of blind leading the bland experience, but it's not really playable. Does AEoD actually support LAN play? Is it something we're doing wrong with GZdoom? Any help would be really appreciated.

Unfortunately, AEoD doesnt support MP anymore. At some point, ages ago, it did. However, as the mod kept growing and the features turned much more complex involving ACS, MP compatibility was discarded.

The issue you mention sounds like an ACS issue while recognizing more than one player, but even fixing that, you'll get desync'd in a matter of seconds. The problem is that the mod uses a HUGE amount of actor to display effects, and for a network play, that causes too many issues. Not even a port designed especifically for MP (i.e. skulltag) can handle that.

I'll look into that black screen issue, but I dont promise anything at all.

Mostly it's just good to have it confirmed that it's not anything we personally were doing wrong.

AEoD certainly -seems- complex enough that it would cause LAN play to have a seizure and die, so I'm not surprised it doesn't really work/isn't supported. Thanks for the fairly quick reply, too!

It's especially odd how Reilsss claims v5 works in multiplayer, though he used GZdoom... Still, what DBThanatos said is where we stand. AEoD no longer supports multiplayer.
