PostSubject: Question about the upcoming update   Mon Dec 12, 2011 9:33 am

So, about the update:

Will it update saved games as well? As in, when I launched AEoD 6 and my saved games are from AEoD 5, will they be updated too, or do I have to start over? scratch

I'm afraid it's inevitable. Every single revision of every mod I played before made me start over, even lesser bumps like AEoD 5 to AEoD 5.25.

Also, as far as I know, ZDoom doesn't provide any ways for modders to update savegames. So if a savegame doesn't just break right away, it's probably because all changes were made to things not encountered in that game.

As Michaelis said, almost any change breaks the saves. Every single update to AEoD so far will break your old saved game files. You might as well delete them when version 6 is out as there will be no point in keeping them.

Well dang it.

Guess I need to step up and complete my rerun of Evilution before 6 is released then.

Indeed. Patches alone are bound to break savegames. Much more likely with an entire new version.

Maybe that's why I can't load the saves I had from the previous version... Wanted to whoop that Deathbringer's kiddish ass.
